Final Words and Conclusion
What we did like:
The Akasa Integral enclosures appear to be very well built, quality products. Their elegant aluminium construction not only gives them a sleek look but vastly improves the working temperatures of the enclosed drive. Aesthetically the Integrals are pleasing and you can choose any of the available colours to match the rest of your desktop devices as well. Moving on to performance, the Integrals have nothing to be concerned about. Their USB transfer speeds are exceptionally good, much improved from the initial Integral enclosures line.
What we would like to see improved:
The only really negative aspect we found about the Integral enclosures (applies only to the Integral LAN and eSATA versions) is the power supply. The power supply of the enclosures is almost as large as the enclosure itself, making it difficult to hide and will become a real problem if you plan on using multiple enclosures at the same time. A smaller, practical power supply like the one we found in the Fusion would help tremendously.
Who we would recommend it to:
Each Akasa Integral enclosure has a specific use. For example, the Fusion can be used as a back-up device for your sensitive data and is extremely useful to businesses and the Integral LAN can be a very cheap NAS solution for home or office applications, while its USB connection makes it very versatile if you want to attach it to a PC which is not connected to your network. The enclosures perform great, their build quality is good and their pricing is fair, so we think that they deserve our Editor’s Choice Award.
