Specviewperf 8.01 Results
For those of you not aware of Specviewperf here’s
an explanation of Specviewperf 8.01 from the official
website:
“SPECviewperf® is a portable OpenGL
performance benchmark program written in C. It was
developed by IBM. Later updates and significant
contributions were made by SGI, Digital (Compaq,
HP), 3Dlabs (Creative Labs) and other SPECopcSM
project group members. SPECviewperf provides a vast
amount of flexibility in benchmarking OpenGL performance.
Currently, the program runs on most implementations
of UNIX, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Linux.”

Specview results look spot on compared to other
systems in the same class, if you visit Specviews
website you’ll actually see that they compare
favourably to the results of a FX55 based system
running the higher spec’d are more expensive
FireGL V7100 so the choice of the V5100 was a masterstroke
by Alienware allowing them to maintain great performance
without the extra cost.
