Conclusions:
CoolerMaster
has come up with a very, very attractive and useful
chassis for the PC enthusiast with the CM
Media 281. The fact that it’s easy
to work with, very sturdy, and provides plenty
of ventilation for adequate airflow, make this
case a solid selection for most users.
CoolerMaster, however,
needs to give more attention to how the front
bezels work/don’t work with installed devices.
I was quite surprised that there were problems
with my DVD Writer and not being able to use the
chassis without some modification on my part.
This
case has so many things going for it; I’m
quite disappointed that there were any problems
at all. However, the only real annoying problems
were those related to the DVD Writer and the operation
of the front bezel and the spring-loaded cover
for the upper bay. Using the Remote Controller
with Windows XP is a rather futile experience,
however MCE would be the way to go with this chassis.
The user needs to be aware
that the chassis does NOT come with a PSU. Also,
if desired, the user will need to purchase additional
120 mm case fans for the vents if forced airflow
is desired for other than the rear vent.
The
CM Media 281 is well built, very attractive, has
ample room for installing/exchanging components
and has all the ventilation one can ask for. Working
with this chassis is a most pleasant experience.
For
the many positives going for this chassis, I give
it the Editor’s Choice Award.
If not for the few problems encountered, this
case could easily have gotten our highest recommendation.

What do these awards
mean?
There
should be several sources for the user to order/acquire
the CM Media 281.
One such source is Directron
with a listed price of $99.99.
