Final words and conclusion
Corsair certainly impressed us with the VX450W. For a unit designed for maximum value over top performance, the VX450W is exceptional. The voltage lines and the regulation circuit stand strong, it is very quiet, stays cool and above all, is extremely efficient. The single 12V line guarantees that the unit will not shut down if your high end video card suddenly demands more power than a weak 12V line can offer, providing enough power and evenly distributing among the components that need it. The voltage fluctuations that take place during great load changes are small by any measure and certainly harmless for your system. Corsair also offers a 5 year long warranty with the VX450W, something that certainly means they are very confident about their product.
The thermal performance of the VX450W is excellent, due to its high efficiency. It does not let much of the input power to be wasted as heat, so the unit remains cool even at high loads without the fan having to speed up. This makes the VX450W an excellent choice for HTPC systems which do not require excessive amounts of power but need to be silent and to remain cool. The sleeved cables will also keep your system much more tidy than with a usual PSU installed.
Overall, we cannot find any significant drawbacks about the Corsair VX450W. It is a remarkable PSU aiming at the value segment of the market and we believe it is worthy of our DriverHeaven’s Gold Award.
