Geil’s product packaging is in many ways similar to Super Talent, Corsair, OCZ etc and features a plastic package with the memory inside. They do however wrap the plastic in a cool cardboard sleeve. Interestingly Geil are the best manufacturer for product information with the specifications clearly visible on the memory (and packaging) which is nice to see.

The product we received to review is Geil’s GX22GB8000UDC. This consists of two 1Gb modules @ DDR2-1000. Timings on these sticks are (a very impressive) 4-4-4-12 using a voltage of 2.4v which is pretty standard for high end DDR2 in today’s climate. As shown in the pictures (above and below) each module comes with Geil’s distinctive metallic orange heatspreaders which are made of Aluminium.

SPD timings on the Geil are both thorough and disappointing. There are three separate timings stored in the modules, 200, 266 and 400Mhz. This means that the sticks should boot in all but the worst circumstances however for high end users there is no 500Mhz option and the SPD settings at 400Mhz are looser than we would have liked to see. In addition, EPP is not enabled for those with EPP enabled motherboards.
