Super Talent

We have looked at Super Talent products in the past, from MP3 players to memory sticks and they have always been impressive. When we heard of a new high end DDR2 part being released we were eager to try it out. Shown below is the product:

Super Talent’s T1000UB1G4 modules come packaged in the industry standard plastic packet which includes a cardboard insert. Whilst this packaging is ideal for the shop shelf it doesn’t provide much protection against shipping mishaps and so it is down to the retailer to ensure the memory arrives in one piece.

The Sample that was sent to us features 2x1Gb modules which feature aluminium heatsinks in a very appealing blue finish. Each stick is capable of DDR2-1000 with timings of 4-5-4-15. The voltage used for operation at these specifications is a modest 2.2v which is 0.2v lower than many other DDR2-1000+ modules.

Something that we don’t see often is high specification memory which is SPD programmed for operation at the advertised speed. Often 400Mhz is the highest products will ship with, however providing the motherboard supports it these modules should auto configure to boot at 500Mhz with the marketed timings. In addition to this Super Talent have taken the wise decision of enabling EPP on the modules, which allow greater automatic configuration of timings when installed on an EPP capable motherboard.
