Overclocking Tests:

We found that overclocking our AMD Athlon64 FX-51 system to its maximum level was most successful using multiplier changes, with the FX-53 this again proved to be the case. Using the BIOS to change the settings we eventually settled on the following multiplyer as the maximum achievable with the FX-53.

The 200mhz (8%) increase in the clockrate of the CPU was rather disappointing, we had hoped to reach at least 2.7Ghz before beginning the testing. The above clockrate was maintained by using a Vcore of 1.66v, here are the temps we recorded after the completion of the overclocking benchmarks:

Comparing the above results to the Athlon FX-51 overclocked in the same system we see that they are not out of the ordinary. (FX-51 @ 2.5ghz was 52 degrees CPU/ 34 degrees MB).

Here are the results of the overclocking tests in our mainstream system:

Other than the Aquamark 3 test results the improvements across the board are excellent from such a small clockspeed increase. In photoshop there was avery nice increase of almost 5 seconds which would correspond with alot of time saved over the course of a day using this application under heavy loads.
