GPU playback performance :

Both the Geforce 7 and Radeon X1K series of graphics cards allow the option to enable video playback acceleration. This feature enables the systems video playback software to offload some of the decoding work to the GPU and free up CPU time for other tasks. Below are the improvements gained from enabling GPU acceleration when watching an H.264 movie clip (1080).

GPU Video Playback Performance :

As the Driver Heaven Review system features the fastest CPU currently available the performance with GPU acceleration off is actually pretty good though this doesn’t stop the cards from improving performance when acceleration is enabled. The results of our test show that all 3 single card solutions are performing at very similar levels. The Radeon is slightly ahead of the two Geforces on minimum and average CPU usage however falls slightly behind the GX2 on max CPU usage.
