Oblivion

With Crysis released we contemplated dropping Oblivion out of our tests. But then we remembered all the jaw dropping vistas we came across in this fantasy RPG and decided to stick with it. It might not push as many polygons on screen as Crysis and the temperate forests aren’t as lush as the jungle Crytek’s game depicts, but the game still looks fantastic.

As always, the decision between HDR and AA is left up to the individual. And much like with any card tested to date, going with HDR yields considerably higher framerates. The HIS HD3850 IceQ Turbo X was able to chew right through anything the game threw at it, catching up with and at times outperforming a stock HD3870. As if that wasn’t enough, the minimum framerate remained considerably high throughout our testing. This includes several zones where there are grass fields as far as the eye can see (most cards start to chug here).
