The 4775-500S may not be
quite a candidate for the world’s greatest
power supply unit, but it is very well balanced
and is very reasonably priced. Although it is
missing some features, such as the modular design,
attention was given to important details such
as the length of the cables and the high performance.
We enjoyed the silent operation of the unit, as
it remained almost totally silent thorough our
testing, becoming audible only at maximum load.
The two PCI-E cables may make the unit appealing
to people building SLI and Crossfire systems.
What we did not
like:
There were not any considerable
flaws which we could find while testing the 4775-500S.
There are however some attributes we would have
liked to see. Most power supply units in its class
are modular nowadays, and it is something that
modders are going to notice. The long cables are
going to create substantial cable clutter, no
matter how well one will try to hide them. Another
negative point is the availability of the unit,
as we could not find it outside a few EU countries.
Who we would recommend
it to:
The NorthQ 4775-500S “Godzilla”
PSU is a well balanced, strong power supply unit
very capable of powering a decent gaming system.
It may not appeal to modders however because of
the non-modular design, but it looks well enough
for people who have windowed cases who are willing
to spend some time routing and tidying up the
cables.
We feel that the NorthQ
4775-500S “Godzilla” PSU is worthy
of our Editors Choice Award.
