Final words and conclusion

What we did like:

OCZ have obviously researched this cooling unit extensively before release. The body and base of the cooler is very solid and the finish is incredible. There are no dents or scratches anywhere to be seen or any other flaws for that matter and we would give the mirrored finish of the copper base a nigh on perfect rating. The cooler is not very big, so it shouldn’t be a problem on motherboards with objects close to the CPU socket. Finally, we loved it’s versatility. Since it can be mounted on any socket currently available, users won’t have to worry about changing their CPU and motherboard soon after they buy the cooler.

What we did not like:

The only true negative point of the Tempest is its price. For performance, the competition offer larger bodied coolers which give better performance, especially in over clocked configurations, that said very few are as versatile as the Tempest.

Who would we recommend it to:

The OCZ Tempest is a good cooler overall with slot versatility and appearance being the strongest attributes. That said, the Tempest is recommended to gamers, modders and enthusiasts who want a good looking and high performing cooler. It is also highly recommended to people who like to change and experiment with their systems often, since the cooler can be mounted on any motherboard.

Considering the above, we believe that the OCZ Tempest is definitely worthy of our Shortlist Award.

What do these awards mean?

The average price of the OCZ Tempest cooler is 50€ in EU at the time of this review.
