Video Conversion
Our video conversion test uses VSO Software’s ConvertXtoDVD software. This application takes advantage of all four processor cores and allows us to convert almost any video file format to DVD. Our test file was a 104Mb, 720p .mkv file lasting two minutes forty-six seconds.
It is probably fair to say that re-encoding of files used to be a task performed by enthusiasts rather than the average PC user but with the ever growing popularity of digital content, whether it be downloaded music or video files transferred to PC from your camcorder, changing files to save space or back up to optical media is becoming more of a mainstream task. The above tests help demonstrate the impact that memory has on some of the more common conversion tasks. Overall the variances in performance are minimal but like a couple of other tests in this review the timings used by Kingston other than CAS to TRAS help the modules to a small performance lead over the OCZ memory.
