On September 26th, 2005 OCZ Technology Group launched the new OCZ DDR PC-4000 Platinum Enhanced Bandwidth Edition 1GB modules and 2GB dual channel memory kits . This series of memory modules were designed to give enthusiasts and gamers the ultimate combination of speed and density. The OCZ PC-4000 Platinum EB series combines the advantages of high density 1024MB modules, with lower latency timings. Their goal was to provide superior performance for the wide array of graphic intensive applications and gaming titles. These memory modules are specified for use at the low timings of CL 3-3-2-8.

EVP® - OCZ EVP® (Extended Voltage Protection) is a feature that allows performance enthusiasts to use a VDIMM of 2.9V ± 5% without invalidating their OCZ Lifetime Warranty.

ULN2 - OCZ's proprietary ULN (Ultra Low Noise) technology uses various printed circuit board (PCB) techniques to reduce the amount of electrical noise that is present in all high-speed ICs. This results in faster and more stable memory.

The mirrored platinum copper heat spreaders are a thing of beauty and should be appreciated. When you heft one of these modules in your hand, you'll feel how sturdy they are giving a hint of their effectiveness in dissipating heat produced.

Llurking underneath these sexy heat spreaders are the efficient HYB2D512800 CE-6 Infineon IC's embedded upon a mutually designed PCB - which was initially developed in conjunction with Brain Power and OCZ Technology. Because of highly effective speed binning efforts by OCZ, the user is assured of getting high quality memory running at or above specified speeds. In fact it is a rare memory module from OCZ that does not highly exceed initial specifications, and a fact in engineering and design, that OCZ can continue to be proud of. At the time of the initial product release OCZ would not release exactly which memory IC's were being utilized in the manufacturing of the OCZ PC-4000 Platinum EB memory kits. Although criticized by some in the industry for their lack of this information, OCZ was just trying to line up more supply from Infineon of these desired Infineon IC's, which not only sport lower latency memory timings but stability at higher clock speeds as well.
