Sisoft Sandra is one of the most popular applications used for synthetic benchmarking for a wide range of PC components. Sisoftware released the 2007 version of Sandra back in May. In our case we used every memory relevant benchmark which it offers. The memory bandwidth benchmark can test the memory bandwidth (buffered and unbuffered), the latency test calculates the response times of the processor cache and memory, and finally the cache and memory test benchmarks the cache and memory access (which means transfer) speed.

There is little to say here which the numbers do not speak for themselves. The only set of RAM which seems to outperform the rest slightly on both systems at stock speed is the Mushkin XP2-6400. When it comes to overclocking, the OCZ rev.2 Platinum series appears to withstand the highest overclock on the Intel based system. On the AMD system, many sets can run with 3-3-3-9 timings, but only the Corsair Twin2X could run with 3-3-3-6. The performance of the A-Data Vitesta modules is a mixed bag. The performance of the modules at stock speeds appears to suffer, but the gap quickly closes when the RAM is overclocked, where it can compete with the rest.
