Driver Heaven Photoshop V2 Bench
Most people are tired of running 3dmark and Pcmark and similar benchmarks, while these are visually attractive benchmarks they are not in many cases indicative of real world situations, this is not the case with Photoshop. This is a real world application with a myriad of uses appealing to all users from digital photographers to budding graphic designers. It is also a wonderful test of all round system performance, specifically memory bandwidth and CPU processing power. For full information and links to download this bench for yourself and to compare scores with other Driver Heaven members, head over here. We are using Photoshop CS3 for this testing.

Well what can we say about the performance of the QX9770 in this test? Highly impressive sums it up. Paired with 1600MHz memory it is able to knock nearly 10 seconds off the time taken by the QX9650 which itself is almost a second faster than the QX6850! In every test the QX9770 is faster and the more demanding the work being performed the larger the increase is in the performance difference. Comparing the QX9650 with the 6850 we see that the results are very close, the 9series CPU tends to be a little faster in each and it has the largest increase in performance on test 9 (Mosiac Tiles). The QX6700 lags some way behind in this test but that should not be seen as too much of a downer, comparing it to the AMD competitor at the time of its launch, the FX-62, we see that the Intel chip is actually about forty seconds faster.
