Probably the most interesting comparison in the CPU arithmetic test is the 9650 and 6850. Both processors use the same front side bus speed and the same memory, the addition of extra cache on the 9650 creates a significant increase in score over the 6850. Whetstone is particularly impressive with an increase from 38600 to 44200. In Multimedia we see that the QX9770 is able to hugely increase the Float results and the 1600MHz FSB combined with 1600MHz memory allows the CPU to come in 12000 ahead of the nearest competitor. When we look at the comparison between the two 1333MHz chips we see there is also a difference in performance, most likely due to the enhanced handling of floating point and integer maths on the Yorkfield.
Memory performance is very similar when looking at the two 1333MHz processors and they show quite a jump over the 1066MHz QX6700. This is a similar performance difference to using DDR2-1066 (4-5-4-15) with the older chip as it does not really benefit from DDR3-1066 at all. As expected the extra 277MHz on the QX9770 system results in a health lead over the other processors in memory bandwidth results and because of this it completes a clean sweep of wins in this application.
