Ok, so
you are a modder, you bought that shiny acrylic
case, filled it with lights, round cables and every
other flashing LED goodie that your dealer had listed
in the modding section. After all this effort, perhaps
your input devices feel a little bit too…mmm
ordinary? Don’t fear because Revoltec can
do something about that, since they produce all
kinds of illuminated desktop devices. Today we will
examine some of their products … to be exact,
a keyboard, a mouse and a mousepad.
Revoltec
is a German based company, subsidiary to Listan.
They focus on producing computer hardware especially
for modders, such as illuminated devices and cables.
While not a very old company, they are one of the
first companies to specifically aim towards the
modders market.
Lightboard
Advanced
The
Lightboard Advanced is the third illuminated keyboard
from Revoltec. It comes in a well designed and sturdy
package, clear on top for you to examine the keyboard
up close while browsing inside a store. The keyboard
itself is silver colored and has clear plastic keys.
While it does look like aluminum, it is simple plastic.
Sturdy and feels nice, but plastic nonetheless.
The
Lightboard advanced has 18 hot keys on top, which
control multimedia and Windows functions. You will
not require any specific software for them to work;
they will simply function if you are using Windows
XP. You can launch a number of applications, control
multimedia functions and set your PC to sleep or
turn it off if you want to.
The keyboard
is using X-structured keys, much like those present
on notebooks. This makes the keyboard very thin
(as you can see, shorter than a single coin) and
very comfortable to use. It is also very responsive,
due to the short key travel. The keys are illuminated
from the behind and make a nice effect, even during
daytime. A small but nice detail is that the 3 keyboard
LED lights (num lock, caps lock, scroll lock) are
blue as well.
