The Case (continued)
The rest of the chassis is fairly simple. The right side panel is entirely plain while the left side panel only has a perforated area which also acts as a pushing handle for removing the panel. At the rear of the case the exhaust fan can be seen. The fan can be unclipped and removed without using any tools, as it is not screwed in the case but held in place on a plastic frame. Revoltec also use thumbscrews to secure both panels into place.
The 120mm exhaust fan is a plain black “Air Guard” fan, unlike the LED fan found at the front of the case. It is silent and will certainly get the job done. Revoltec also have implemented a tool less locking mechanism for the expansion cards. Unfortunately those locking mechanisms also have a negative side effect as well. If you try to install a card which takes two expansion slots (frequent design of high end PCIe VGA cards) it will be blocked by the locking mechanism, so it has to be removed if you are going to use such a card and screws will have to take its place.
The HDD cage can be found at the front bottom part of the case. Unfortunately, it can house only up to three 3.5” disk drives. Another two 3.5” devices can be mounted above the HDD cage in the visible 3.5” drive bay. A cable holder is present there as well, which will come very handy when routing the cables around the area. Revoltec also installed a card holder, meant to support those ultra-long cards found in servers and professional multimedia PCs. As the case can support an eATX motherboard, it is very likely that some of these will be used for such applications as well.
Installing a system in the Rhodium is fairly easy as the case is roomy and the tool-less mechanisms assist a quick installation. The support bar over the motherboard and the space above the top 5.25” drive will be of great help when you are hiding the excess cables. Even after we installed our system in the Rhodium we were left with plenty of space to work inside. This makes the Rhodium ideal for systems which will use large parts inside the case, such as watercooled PCs, and will certainly make working with and upgrading your system very easy.
