Final Words and Conclusion

The Silverstone ST35F unit is precisely what it is designed to be; no more, no less. It is silent, a decent performer and efficient, relatively good value for someone who is looking for a reliable unit for a general office or home PC.

It is not however very plain, it does become rather warm under heavy load and there are limited cables, which are short. There is no PCIe connector as well, which is a shame as the unit was able to handle a basic system featuring a Core 2 Duo E4500, 2x1GB DDR2 RAM modules, a single 320GB hard disk drive, an optical drive and a 7900GS with ease (average power consumption of 170-200W). It could easily power a basic gaming system, although it is certainly not good enough for a high end Conroe processor paired with an 8800 series video card. It is not really cheap either as 450-550W power supply units from less reputable manufacturers can be found at or near its price range.

The Silverstone ST35F is overall a relatively good unit which should find its way into your shortlist if you are shopping for a reliable supply for a low power PC and can find it for a good price.

The Silverstone ST35F receives our Shortlist Award.
