SteelSeries S&S

The SteelPad S&S is the most popular mouse pad SteelSeries currently produce. It comes in a thin cardboard box, which is somewhat overcrowded with artwork. SteelSeries also provide a carrying pouch, which is a good idea for people who attend LAN parties often. Inside the package you will also find Teflon gliding tapes for the feet of your mouse which will severely reduce friction on the surface of the S&S mouse pad.

The SteelPad S&S is made of special hard plastic. It is 20mm x 270mm (12,6 x 10,6 in) and 2mm (0,08in) thick. Despite its thinness, it is very steady, although it won’t be able to cover surface anomalies as well as the soft and thick QcK Heavy. The surface is just as coarse it needs to be in order to make a high precision mouse show its true potential, but it is smooth enough to keep friction to a minimum as well. The flip side of the S&S mouse pad is entirely unusable as a softer rubber-like material is sprayed on it, making the surface rough and sticky, keeping the mouse pad very stable while it’s on your desktop despite its low weight. The S&S mouse pad has a clear advantage over the QcK Heavy as it cannot be soaked if a liquid spills over it and it can be easily cleaned with a glass/mirror cleaning solvent. You should not use cleaning solvents that leave a residue which might impact the performance of the mouse pad, such as regular soap, but you should be able to clean it up again with a proper cleaning solvent even if you do.
