The aspect we like about
the SuperTalent DDR-2 modules is their versatility.
They can work very well at a high speed, but they
also work with much better timings at lower speeds.
With good voltage and enough experiments, a seasoned
overclocker should not have a hard time finding
the best settings for his/her system.
What we did not like:
We could say that we didn’t
like the overclocking capability of the modules
which was a mere 100MHz over their rating. That
said, it is unlikely that any other module will
overclock much further than this. The true problem
with the SuperTalent modules is their availability,
as they are hard to find in most locations. (hopefully
this will change after publication).
Who we would recommend them to:
The first group of users
who we could recommend this kit to would be people
who simply have 266MHz FSB processors, which allow
the RAM to run at 1066MHz out of the box. Your
system can really benefit from using PC2-8000
RAM instead of PC2-6400 RAM. Then of course we
also recommend it to overclockers who plan to
reach that speed themselves. The modules are very
versatile and can reach high speeds, so overclockers
and gamers alike will simply love them.
Considering the above, we present the T1066UX1G5
kit with our Editor’s Choice award. It is
simply a very good, versatile set of DDR-2 RAM
for standard users and overclockers alike.
