Doom
3 was perhaps the most awaited first person
shooter game in 2004. It was one of the most demanding
games with phenomenal graphics at the time of its
release. The game also has an included timedemo
which we run as a benchmark. From the results we
can see that the game is perfectly playable in all
resolutions with the M70-159, even when the detail
level is set to Ultra.

F.E.A.R.
is perhaps the most GPU taxing first person shooter
game available. The nice thing about this game is
that it includes a benchmark which not only measures
the FPS across the timedemo, but also their distribution
percentage. F.E.A.R. appears to work very well in
800x600 resolution but in 1024x768 you may find
yourself in need for a few level of detail sacrifices.

NFS
: Most Wanted is a popular street racing
game with cutting edge visual effects. Unfortunately,
it does not include a timedemo so we have to use
FRAPS this time round. We chose a 3-lap circuit
run, so that the length of the race and the repeat
of the same lap 3 times would give us more consistent
results. For the record, we are running a modified
Mercedes CLK-500 in the Ironwood Estate circuit
stage. With medium level of detail settings, the
game appears perfectly playable in both resolution
settings, with the FPS dropping a little low only
when all of the car’s wheels are spinning
before the race starts.
