Inside the PSU:

As we’ve said before, DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME. Breaking the seal on the PSU Case will void any warranty AND, it’s dangerous. A PSU can store voltage for a very long period of time even after the power has been disconnected. So, if there’s ever a valid reason to open the casing on one, first, be sure to discharge the voltage before taking a screwdriver and knife in hand. To discharge the voltage, pull the power plug while the PSU is still in the PC. Then, press the ON/OFF button on the front of the PC and there should follow a very brief surge of power. Now, if there’s a toggle switch on the back of the PSU, turn it to the OFF position.

Now, what do we see inside this particular PSU?

Notice first of all the two long heatsinks. These provide for the heat dissipation from the components while the fans provide the necessary airflow.

All the wiring is bundled to one side.

And, the copper coils are on the other.
