Final
words and conclusion
What
we did like:
What
is most appealing about the X-Connect VS 700W
unit is the price. It is good looking, modular,
quiet and packs enough features, such as the limited
lifetime warranty and the flexforce cables, so
it will be difficult to find another unit which
offers that much near the price tag.
What
we did not like:
The
design of the Ultra XVS 700W unit is similar to
the X-Finity 2G unit; which is not the similarity
that concerns us but the transfer of the problems
which we found on the 2G. The loudness issue has
been fixed, as the XVS remains quiet enough while
outputting a fair amount of power. That said,
the 2G seemed to have a hard time providing all
of its power, a problem similar to the one found
on the XVS. It also weakened when getting close
to full load as well. And we did not like the
lack of protection during shipping.
Who
we would recommend them to:
There
are many reasons in favour of buying the X-Connect
VS 700W unit, but there are also some reasons
which will drive potential buyers away. It is
fact that the XVS 700W is a quiet, good looking
and powerful unit which offers great value for
money. More seriously though, is the single 12V
line and the fact that it weakens when loaded
above 600W is going to make hardcore enthusiasts
reconsider, especially those with dual graphics
cards and huge power demands. All in all especially
considering the price, the X-Connect VS 700W is
worthy of our DriverHeaven Shortlist Award.

What do these awards
mean?
The
Ultra X-Connect VS 700W unit retails for about
100$ in the US at the time of this review.
