Supreme Commander

Recalling that our test PC was running at only 1,86GHz you might think that Supreme Commander is a bad candidate for our tests. We would generally agree, however we used a simple trick to ensure it was only the GPU that was getting stressed. We recorded a match with no AI opponents, but filled with units of all sorts. This ensured that the card was being stressed as hard as possible without skewing the score because of the intensive CPU calculations required.

As you can clearly see from the graphs, Supreme Commander managed to choke the 8600GT to borderline choppy performance. Keep in mind that except for AA every single setting was maxed out though, so with some minor tweaks here and there we managed to pass the 30fps mark, which is what last gen cards can only dream about. The game still looked great, so you can be sure that we kept most of the settings high.
