Half Life 2: Episode 1

The Source engine is one of the most scalable engines available. Almost any card released in the last 4 years can run it, but with every setting set to the highest value few games can match its incredible looks. We naturally wanted the game to look as good as possible.

The numbers speak for themselves. Nobody in their right mind would argue that the performance of Episode 1 was anything but stellar. And while at 1280x1024 a lot of the detail was lost due to the low resolution, the game looked razor sharp when playing at 1600x1200. Again, just like with Call of Duty 2, most of the graphics memory probably remained unused, but since the Source engine is known to stutter the moment it runs out of it, who are we to complain?
