Installation

A couple of months ago we reviewed Zalmans current midrange cooler and found the installation process to be more than just a little complicated. With the new VF1000 LED there were no such issues and even taking the ZM-RHS88 into consideration, attaching the cooler to our 8800 GTS was very easy.

The initial step is to remove the stock cooler and core surround, cleaning of any thermal material as well. Following this the Zalman thermal paste is applied to the core and the two ZM-RHS88 components are placed on the card. (NOTE: there is thermal tape on the underside of the heatsink which stick to the various chips that require cooling). The result is as follows:

After laying on the heatsink we then place the main VF1000 LED on top of the core with the bolts attached to hole six as described in the instruction booklet. These bolts pass through the PCB holes and the heatsink is locked into place using fixing nuts on the rear of the card. Various washers and rubber rings are also placed on the components to protect them.

After flipping the card over we are presented with the completed installation, including the time taken to remove the old cooler this process took about 15minutes.
