AlienGuiSE

Supplied with the preinstalled operating system is "AlienGuiSE" (Alienware Graphic User Interface Special Edition), which is basically a modified ObjectDesktop from Stardock. I have used Object Desktop in the past and left with rather a sour taste in my mouth due to performance issues, however with this latest build and the special hand crafted themes for the Alienware system I started to find some merit in using it. Im more of a "classic" man myself after many years of Windows 2000 Professional use, but I do agree it's a nice touch, especially when the 5300 series will find it's way into quite a few living rooms. It would certainly be a way to impress the visitors.

"Darkstar" (above) is my personal favourite, it is easy on the eye (being a dark theme) and it rarely gets in the way of productivity. Whether I will stick with it for long term use is something I can't answer at this point but over the course of a week's reviewing I found it quite appealing.

The remaining themes "AlienMorph" and "ALXMorph" do not appeal to me, as im getting older I find light themes hard to deal with over sustained use but there is no denying the ability of the designers involved.
