Moving further
into the bios we find further overclocking options
such as the ability to vary your memory speed and
timings.
As mentioned
elsewhere in the article the A8R32-MVP allows you
to have two full speed 16x PCIe slots and the following
screen in the bios is where you select this setting.
By default both have 16x enabled. As well as 16x
you can also set either slot to 1x, 4x or 8x if
you wish. Finally the screen also allows you to
supply some extra current to your graphics cards
and Southbridge if required.
Finally,
as with all motherboards you have various temperatures,
voltage and fan speed monitors. These are all shown
on one screen so when you’re in the bios you
can monitor what’s going on. These readings
can also be accessed via Asus Probe when in windows.
Asus Software
If you’ve
bought an Asus Motherboard in the past few years
you’ll more than likely be familiar with one
version or another of Asus probe. The software allows
you to monitor the goings on within your PC such
as temperatures, speeds and voltages from within
Windows. It’s a useful tool for the enthusiast
and about a year or so ago it received a little
bit of a facelift. Here’s how the most recent
version looks:
Also bundled with the A8R32-MVP is the Asus Update
utility which allows you to keep things like your
motherboard bios up to date, again a simple tool
however it does exactly what it’s meant to.
