The Card

The N6800GT is reasonably similar to
the Nvidia reference design. The front of the card itself
is a part for part match with the reference, however the
design takes on more of an Asus Twist.

At the top of the card is the SLI connector,
the fan and heatsink are much nicer aesthetically compared
to the reference design and light up in blue when powered
on. Also differing from the reference design is the PCB
colour, blue rather than green.
Hiding under the heatsinks are 256mb
of DDR3 (8x32mb) memory clocked at 1050mhz and the 6800GT
core clocked at 367mhz. These are slightly above GT reference
speeds of 350mhz/1000mhz and help justify the N6800GT’s
“Extreme” branding.

At the base of the card is of course
the PCI express connector.

Display outputs come in the form of 2xDVI
connectors and 1 s-video TV out. Asus have their outputs
running a 400mhz ramdac.
Looking down the length of the card you
get a good idea of the heatsink size which is of course
a single slot design making the card ideal for standard
desktops or SFF PC’s.

Finally, on the rear of the card you
can see the heatsink bracket which holds the heatsink
tight against the core.
