The good news as far as we were concerned is that there is no detrimental effect in choosing the HW or EAX sounds within F.E.A.R. and in fact there is actually a benefit to using the HW or EAX mode, especially in maximum FPS.

When listening to the various audio modes the HW and EAX modes were noticeably more immersive than the SW mode however it wasn’t easy to tell which was more impressive in terms of audio quality. F.E.A.R. does contain a higher level of EAX support (EAX HD) and it is possible that this option, had it been available on the X-MERIDIAN, would have been more impressive.
