MSI, BFG have followed Nvidia's reference design
for Cooler and PCB layout, this of course means
that the card looks almost identical to the MSI
version. The SLI connector is still found along
the top edge and the only major difference in
appearance is BFG's decision to use some pretty
cool looking stickers on the cooler.
Flipping
the card on its end would reveal the same Dual
Link DVI's, HDTV out and power connectors featured
on other 7900 GTX models and a shot of the back
shows that as expected the card is not going out
to reinvent the Nvidia design in any way.
What
the external appearance of the card doesn't show
however is that BFG have pushed the card past
reference settings to provide an even faster product
out of the box. The core on BFG's 7900 GTX OC
is running at 670mhz (compared to 650 usually)
and the memory is running at 1640Mhz (1600 usually).
In tough gaming situations these increases could
make all the difference between smooth and stuttery
game play.
Unlike
MSI, BFG don't include a free game with their
7900 GTX however they also don't skimp on extras
and the bundle they supply is actually very good.
For
starters you receive the usual connectors/cables,
manuals(plentiful), stickers and drivers... in
addition to this there are two good extras. The
first is a free t-shirt and the second is a funky
little set of mouse feet which are made of Teflon
and when placed on the base of your mouse allow
faster and smoother operation. Finally when opening
the box for the first time we are greeted by a
nice leaflet which informs the buyer that they
have great taste...little touches like this make
all the difference.
