F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point

The original F.E.A.R. is one of the few games on the market which utilises dual core processors and the expansion pack retains this feature and so remains ideal for testing the performance of the FX-62 and Core 2 based systems, maximising the potential of the graphics card through good use of the CPU.

Looking first at the results from F.E.A.R. Extraction Point we see that the enhanced specifications of XFX’s XXX edition card are having the desired effect on performance when compared to the BFG OC model. The largest of the performance increases is demonstrated by the maximum FPS figure where XFX open up a 6fps gap over BFG. It is clear though from the minimum FPS statistics that neither card can play this title completely smoothly at our chosen resolution, in order to get completely smooth frame rates the settings need to be reduced slightly to 2xAA and 8xAF.
