Installation

Many people are put off from purchasing water cooling kits, due to the hassle and the installation methods which can in some cases take hours. Corsair are clear to point out that this kit is extremely easy to install so we wanted to test this out ourselves.

We also mentioned that the manual is well written and would like to reiterate that here; if you follow the instructions step by step you really should not have any issues when installing the kit.

Installation Steps (Athlon64):

1) Remove existing cooler.
2) Clean off existing thermal paste
3) Apply new paste (Provided by Corsair)
4) Lay CPU block onto CPU
5) Lay felt block on CPU block
6) Loosely screw clamp together and attach the retention bracket on motherboard.
7) Tighten screw completely
8) Install PCI bracket and connect fan/molex plugs
9) Pass Tubing through PCI bracket
10) Attach nozzles and clips
11) Plug nozzles into Nautilus unit
12) Attach 4 pin power cable to PCI bracket and Nautilus
13) Fill
14) Turn on PC.

DH total install time: 32mins.

Our install time wasn't that fast, however after this initial install (in which we took care to read the instructions and ensure we were thorough in every step) it was clear to us that if you had to install the unit again you could cut the install time down to at least 15mins. This makes the unit not only the quickest water cooler we’ve ever installed, it was also the easiest.

Corsair makes the install easier than most in several ways. Firstly the tubing is already attached to the CPU block. Secondly, attaching the CPU block to the motherboard retention bracket DOES NOT involve removing the motherboard. This is one of the greatest features of the cooler as motherboard removal is so time consuming and potentially awkward. Finally the attachment of tubing to the main unit is exceptionally easy.

Overall a truly great install and only marginally more difficult than an air cooler.
