Graphics Cards:

Pictured below are the 2 cards we received in our reviewer kit. The left card is the slave card. It’s a standard X850 XT 256mb. No difference at all to one you would buy in retail. The card has one DVI and one VGA output and the standard ATI dual slot cooler.

On the right is the X850XT Crossfire Edition card which also features 256mb of memory. At first glance the cards look identical with both having the same dual slot cooler and additional power connector. Looking a little closer though you can see there are a few visible differences. The first noticeable difference is that there is no S-Video connection on the master card.

On the rear of the cards you can see some further differences. On the slave card (left) you can see the area on the right where the Rage Theatre card would sit if the card had VIVO functionality. On the master card there is no such space, instead you can see the area is completely filled with components. You also have a connector on the Master card along the top of the card which is unused in retail use.

Below you can see the display connectors on the 2 cards. The Slave has DVI, S-video and VGA. The crossfire card however has the DMS-59 socket and a DVI output. The DMS-59 connector works as both an input and output of the rendered images.

Bundled Stuff:

Included in our reviewer kit were the usual extras such as HDTV and s-video cable pretty much all of which you will end up with if you buy the components required to assemble a crossfire kit. Also included was the DMS-59/DVI connector. On in the first shot you can you can see the DVI input (left) and output (right) connector. The input connects to your slave card and the output to your display.

On the other end of the cable is the DMS-59 connector which handles both input and output to the master card.
