Introduction: After reviewing the Lite-On_SOHW-812S, I was offered the opportunity to test-out Lite-On’s two new DVD burners - the Lite-On SOHW-832S and the SOHW-1213S. For years, Lite-On has provided high-end optical storage devices to the consumer for low-end prices. Allowing the average-Joe to possess the utmost in quality and performance standards. Now, the Lite-On SOHW-832S and SOHW-1213S are out with 2.4x Double_Layer (DL) and 12x DVD+R burning abilities, respectively. Showing their ever-growing dominance of the optical disc drive market. The ability for the consumer to burn both DVD formats is a fairly new one. And now, we are handed another technological advancement: Double Layer DVD. But this technology isn’t new, by far. It has been around for years, only now, finally trickling down to the consumer. Double Layer DVD burning may very well be the last step for the DVD, as we know it. Besides faster burning speeds, there isn’t must left for the modern DVD. But worry not, for the next generation in DVD’s will arise soon enough, in HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.
