DriverHeaven Review

The Unit

  1. Features:
  2. ATX 12V V2.01: Support latest P4 Prescott and Athlon 64/64 FX processors based systems: P4 main boards that use 875 (Canterwood) and 865 (Springdale) chipsets, and also fully support power requirements for platforms using chipsets like Intel 925 (Alderwood) or 915 (Grantsdale) and next generation CPU. Intel approved.
  3. Dual Fan: The best cooling method for PC system, and is strongly suggested by AMD.
  4. Separate 12V rails: Independent 12V rails supply to MB/CPU and drives in order to provide stable and clean current to noise-sensitive devices, such as: CPU, add-on cards. Offer a safer operating circumstance to users.
  5. SATA power connectors: Connect your system to the faster SATA interface for better performance.
  6. Manual and automatic fan speed control: Manual fan speed control to keep the balance between cooling
effect and acoustic noise. Automatic fan speed adjustment to prevent system overheat.
  7. Reliability: OCP, UVP, OVP, OLP, OTP, and SCP circuits ensure system well guarded from any dangers. Maximize safety for your hardware and valuable data.
  8. • Ring Core: Effectively prevents electro-magnetic pulse leaking from switching power supply to appliances that are being attached to the same power source, i.e. AC wall plug.
  9. PFC Function(AX Series only): PF value 0.99 under condition of 230VAC/50Hz at full load.
  10. Fan Monitor function: RPM signal of 8cm fan is provided for MB detection.
  11. Silence: Acoustic noise is successfully reduced with two fans giving more airflow in less rpm and smooth mechanical design of fan guards.

The Enermax 535w All In One is a very well built and solid feeling piece of hardware. Whilst it isn’t as aesthetically pleasing as some competitors models the casing is completely smooth and the gold grills are high quality.

The rear of the PSU features a pretty standard design. There is the Fan grill and 3pin power connector. As with all well designed PSU’s there is also an on off switch. The only non standard feature is the fan speed controller. If I have said it once I’ve said it a million times, noise levels are a growing concern and the option to tailor these to your requiements is a great additional. Interestingly though, even at full speed, the Enermax PSU is whisper quiet and even for my low tolerance of noise I was happy to leave the unit running at full speed 24/7.

The bottom of the unit features a second fan grill again it is gold plated.

On the side of the unit are the detailed power specifications of the PSU, looking at these in detail shows that on paper the Enermax 535w is a very high spec unit and should provide adequate power for even the highest spec system.

With regards to cabling the use of 4pin Molex and Sata connectors is pretty standard, you get loads of each so are not likely to run out in a hurry, the connectors of note though are the ones pictured below.

What you can see here is the 2x PCIe which is ideal for SLI, the 24pin easy plug which is designed to also fit older 20pin motherboards and the new BTX style 8pin power connector.

The 8pin connector supplied with this unit is the native plug, for those of you with older four pin motherboards there is no need to worry, Enermax provide a converter to change the 8pin into 4pins. This also worked without issue.

Here are the further specifications of the unit:
