Conclusion:
After using the XG Magnum 500W for many days under
extremely stressed conditions I must say that I am
very impressed by its performance, the rails
are rock stable at all times. The fluctuation was minimal
to say the least even with overclocked AMD hardware, many
fans and multiple CD Rom and hard drives.
Noise levels are exceptional and this is one of the quietest
Power supply units I ever have used. The unconventional
heatpipe cooling worked like a charm, under the entire
testing period it never exceeded 40degrees Celsius in
a P180 case. Visual appearance is also not to be faulted
with the all aluminium casing and heatpipe “radiator”
in the back adding to the end result of a quality product.
Let's not overlook the lifetime warranty which is sure
to bring piece of mind to prospective customers.
Are there any negatives with this power supply?
It is a rather large unit and you will have to make sure
it actually fits in your case before a purchase but most
chassis with the PSU compartment in the top shouldn't
have any fitting issues. The other small minus are the
modular cables that we received with our test unit, however
as I stated earlier MGE will supply updated cables in
the future, the last complaint is the poor viewing angle
on the back LCD but this is a minor point.
Highly recommended and another winner from MGE.
