INTRODUCTION

Western Digital was the first company to bring a 8MB cache to the IDE world. They have held the performance crown for some time now. Up until recently the Western Digital JB HDDs have remained unchallenged.

Enter the Maxtor DMP9... It also sports a 7200rpm drive, and 8MB of cache. It also brings to the performance table liquid bearings, and ATA133. Is this enough to take the performance crown from Western Digital?
