BFG
8600 GTS OC
BFG
have taken a rather unique route in creating their
packaging, as well as some product information
being displayed we have a window which shows the
card in all its glory. As well as being unique
the window is also useful in displaying to anyone
who sees the box just how big the card is, ideal
for those looking to find a card small enough
to fit in a small form factor or M-ATX system.
BFG also list quite a lot of feature information
on the rear of the box however there are no specifics
on clock speeds which is disappointing (all we
see is that this is the OC version).
The
bundle provided by BFG doesn’t contain a
free game like the MSI card however all the other
bases are covered, from drivers to power cable
the essentials are all here.
The
design used on BFG’s heat sink is all that
differentiates the card from its competitors at
first glance. All the standard features are included
such as HDCP and PureVideo HD and as with other
brands SLI is available. Under the hood there
is a change over the reference design with the
increase in core speed from 675 MHz up to 710
MHz however memory remains at the reference level
of 1000Mhz. (BFG will be releasing a further enhanced
version with memory over clock also). Before we
look at the performance of today’s review
samples there is just time to look at the final
aspect of the card, power connector. As with the
other 8600 GTS models the BFG card includes a
6pin power connector which is located on the back
edge of the card.
