F.E.A.R
was one of the most highly-anticipated games of this
fall, and it certainly did not disappoint –
its graphics engine is one of the most advanced around,
and its gameplay follows suit with some very innovative
ideas for a first person shooter (although some criticised
its less-than-original level design). In order to
benchmark F.E.A.R, we used the built-in sequence.
For IQ, we set everything to maximum, apart from soft
shadows which were turned off since they are very
taxing for the system. Note that, due to a known bug
in Catalyst suite, we had to disable Catalyst AI in
order to get faster frame rates in the game (with
Catalyst AI set to either Standard or Advanced, a
30-45% decrease can be spotted in some cases!)
