Inside:
The important components within the Xtreme
TI are easily accessible via the underneath of the laptop.
All that is required is unscrewing some panels.
Here’s what you’ll find…
Hard drives: 2x60gb Hitachi drives 7200rpm,
Raid 0 (promise 378 controller)

Memory: 2x512mb of Corsair
DDR2 533mhz.

The DDR2 is actively cooled
by a fan on the underside of the cover:

Graphics: ATI Radeon X800
256mb (M28) – 398mhz Core, 350mhz mem, 12 pipelines.

The M28 core and memory are
cooled by the following heatsink/fan unit:

CPU cooling: CPU cooling uses
the following heatsink/pipe design:

Whilst the unit works well,
the use of a thermal pad rather than thermal paste is quite
disappointing. Considering the heat generated by the 3.6ghz
p4 we would recommend that anyone purchasing the Xtreme
TI also picks up some decent thermal paste and applies it
after confirming the machine is working. This will not only
keep your CPU cooler it should help ensure it has a longer
life…and also due to lower temps being registered
the machine will be quieter.
CPU: Intel 3.6ghz Socket 775
CPU, 1mb l2 cache.
