F.E.A.R
contains some of the most demanding graphics currently
available. Visit most forums and you’ll
no doubt find people thoroughly depressed over
how low they have to set the detail levels to
get the game up and running at a respectable pace
with their hardware. For our testing soft shadows
are off.

The
X1650 PRO is capable of running F.E.A.R. with
all details at maximum at respectable speeds.
Enabling AA and AF drops the frame rate by a small
margin – the game remains playable except
for the most intense firefights. The scene we
used for benchmarking made us notice that although
the card handled the HL2 Ep1 particle effects
without a hitch, it was having severe problems
coping with all the smoke on screen in this case
– the frame rate diminished drastically
when smoke and dust were displayed.
