XFX
When
we originally reviewed the 8800 Series from Nvidia
the brand of card we reviewed was the XFX card
and now that we have the opportunity to look at
SLI it seemed a good time to revisit the brand.
All of our comments regarding the product still
stand. The packaging features a great deal of
information on the product and the bundled extras
cover the essentials however there are no free
games or joy-pads here.
The card itself obviously
hasn’t changed and follows the reference
design with Dual DVI’s capable of 2560x1600
and featuring a 384bit memory bus. As with the
other reference design cards the bandwidth of
the card is 86.4GB/s.
Overclocking
When
we first looked at the XFX branded GTX back in
November we found the maximum overclock to be
630 Mhz/980Mhz which is slightly on the low side
for a retail GTX. When checking for the maximum
overclock on the cards we received for this review
we started at this same point and found that again
the XFX brand were completely stable at these
settings. Bumping up the speeds slowly we found
that these particular samples were able to reach
a slightly higher speed of 650Mhz core and 1000Mhz
memory, the highest in today’s review.
