Intel
D975 XBX2 Bios
As with the design of the
board, the BIOS design on the XBX2 is near identical
to the original XBX. This is no bad thing with
a clean and uncomplicated layout being used. The
opening screen displays the basic information
on the system, none of which is aimed at performance
users really. It is only when we venture into
the performance “tab” that we find
the more interesting options.
Within
the performance section of the BIOS we find the
CPU configuration. In this screen we are able
to change both the FSB and processor multiplier
as well as CPU voltage (up to 1.6v) and FSB/MCH
voltage. Clearly the voltage options are not as
impressive as the IN9 however they are more than
enough for most enthusiasts, on Vapochill we have
seen no benefit to going above 1.6v on our QX6700
and so this limit isn’t too much of a concern.
Memory
settings on the XBX2 are also laid out in a very
clear manner with the main timings available for
configuration. The bottom half of the screen is
reserved for information on the installed modules
however there is no support for EPP profiles on
this product, additionally memory support stops
at DDR2-800 without overclocking. Finally within
this section of the BIOS the memory voltage can
be selected and range from 1.8v to 2.8V.
