Installation:
Now it’s time to install
the Titan Eagle on to my Gainward 7800GT Golden
Sample, first I removed the stock heatsink that
came with the card.
Here I discovered that a portion
of the fan on the stock heatsink was covered by
one of the RAM sinks, if this has crippled the performance
I don’t know but it certainly didn’t
make me feel confident that my card was running
the way it should be.
Then I continued by cleaning
the surface of the GPU.
Next I started to put on the
RAM sinks, as you can see they are a bit bigger
then the memory chips on the 7800GT but that probably
isn’t a negative aspecte. In theory that may
dissipate the heat even better than if they would
have been the same size as the chips.
And a shot with all the RAM
sinks installed.
Then I fixed the bolts to
the cooler in the corresponding holes.
I applied the Titan nano grease
to the core in a thin even layer.
Then it was time to mount
the Eagle onto the 7800GT, it took a bit of a “jiggle”
to get the bolts through the holes but as you can
see it’s a perfect fit.
And to finish it off I secured
the cooler on to the card using a screwdriver.
Here you see the Titan Eagle
mounted and ready for action, I think it looks very
good but your opinions may vary.
The large span of the Eagles “wings”
will help keeping the cards RAM and mosfets cool.
