Testing:

The system used in the testing was as follows:

AMD X2 4400+
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe
2 x 512MB G.Skill 4400Le
2 x Samsung Sata2 200GB
1 x WD Raptor 36GB
Gainward 7800GT Golden Sample
OCZ Powerstream 520w
Antec P180 Case (without VGA duct)

Windows XP Professional Sp2
Rivatuner V2.0 RC 15.8
Rthdribl 1.2

The testing was conducted in this way:
The Idle temps were measured after a reboot and the computer had been idle for 15 minutes, the load temps where achieved by running the highly stressing app Rthdribl 1.2 for 30 minutes.

Stock Speed:

As you see in the above chart the Titan Eagle was able to outperform the Gainward stock solution by three degrees when idle and four degrees under load.

The Golden Sample 7800GT is clocked at 450/1100 from the factory, and is able to do 500/1180 with the stock cooler. I had some hopes that it would go a bit further with the Titan Eagle, but I was wrong. The maximum artifact free setting was the same with Titans cooler.

When overclocked; the difference remained basically the same as at stock speeds. The Titan Eagle was two degrees cooler when idle, and four degrees cooler under load.

Conclusion:

Titan has managed to do a good job on the Eagle universal VGA cooler, it is truly a universal cooler, compatible with almost all graphic cards available today.

It is very well built and has a high quality feel when you remove it from the packaging. Personal taste obviously will vary but aesthetically I think this cooler is very attractive and the looks appeal to me.

Titan claims a 22dBA sound level and I can’t say if that is correct or not, but I couldn’t hear the cooler over any of my other fans in the case.

The performance of the Eagle is in no way bad, although I had expected it to beat the stock cooler with more then four degrees under load. I tried reseating the cooler a couple of times, but the performance remained the same. Maybe it is possible to squeeze another degree or two out of the cooler if another thermal compound would be used.

With all this taken under consideration the Titan Eagle is a great piece of hardware, with great build quality and finish. I mainly recommend this cooler to those who are seeking a quiet solution and maybe not so much to those who are hardcore overclockers looking to get higher clocks from their product.

Titans recommended price for the Eagle VGA cooler is in Europe 18,90 Euros and in the US $25.
