Overclocking

We mentioned earlier in the article that the memory used on the X800XL sample that we have is rated up to 500mhz, so 10mhz above stock. We were therefore expecting to have minimal overclocking of the sample and less than brilliant increases in fps.

So attempting the overclock with the latest build of powerstrip here are the speeds we obtained…

Whilst the core increase is less than spectacular the memory increase far exceeded our expectations. Infact the card did run at 598mhz memory however there was minor artifacting noticed and this only completely disappeared when dropping back to 575mhz.

Here’s how the core and memory overclock affected the performance of the card.
