Conclusion
ZM-RS6F USB 5.1
In 5.1 channel mode the ZM-RS6F struggles with tracks featuring a large number of instruments resulting in a muddy sound. This was fixable with some tweaking in the audio control panel, but each type of music required a different tweak which could be time consuming. Setting music to use stereo sound greatly improved the default quality and this is probably a better way to use these headphones. Movies on the other hand were great in 5.1 channel mode and clearly this is a task which the headset should be used for.
Although the ZM-RS6F USB is a heavy product it never feels uncomfortable due to a well padded headband and the majority of the design looks very good. One aspect which lets the product down is the use of the casing which extends horizontally from the earpieces. This gives the headset a futuristic look but it is actually possible to see the plastic sections out of the corner of the eye and this can be quite distracting.
The unique aspect of the ZM-RS6F USB has to be the built in sound card and this is probably the most important selling point. The ability to plug this product into any laptop (or desktop) and get surround sound is ideal for people who travel and the fact that the headphones fold up nicely adds to the excellent travel possibilities.
Summary: Not the best set of headphones for music DVD’s but great for movies and good for listening to music in stereo. Also perfectly suited to those who travel with their laptop.

ZM-DS4F
The Zalman ZM-DS4F really impressed us, for such a reasonably priced product it produces a level of sound and clarity which many in-ear style earphones would struggle to match. Regardless of the type of music we listened to the headset produced powerful bass and clear high frequencies, resulting in an enjoyable listening experience.
The folding design of the product makes it ideal for taking out and about with an MP3 player as they should fit neatly into a jacket pocket when not being used. Our only concern with the design is that the product can fall off quite easily when bending over to pick something up or tie a shoelace.
Summary: A great set of headphones for MP3 player use at a great price.
