Bioshock
Up until now the Unreal 3.0 engine failed to impress many, but nobody can deny that Bioshock looks absolutely gorgeous. The world of Rapture is filled with detailed pixel shader effects that bring the countless cascades, puddles and leaky pipes to life. Not to mention the dynamic shadows, huge levels and detailed characters. With DX10 support this is definitely one of the prettiest games out there.
As we are able to ascertain in our Bioshock performance analysis, the 8800GTX performs just admirably in this Unreal 3.0 engine based game. The performance differences in Windows Vista are minimal between DX10 and DX9, a surefire sign that nVidia managed to iron out all of the Vista/DX10 issues from the start of the 8800 dominance.
Interestingly enough the minimal framerate figure remained the same in both modes, so apparently the DX10 effects cause only a slight dent, which is most noticeable by looking at the slightly lower maximum and average values. Either way, other than the 8800 Ultra no other card can match the performance of the GTX in Bioshock.
